Hello there, I am Kelsey Sweet a Doctor of Chiropractic. Doctor…. still getting used to that! I received my doctorate at Logan University in Chesterfield, MO in 2017. I am a Colorado native (Woohoo) and attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins to attain my Bachelor of Science.
I am a coffee addict and am working on getting down to only 1 cup per day (#goals). As well as continuing to improve my health. Chiropractic school was brutal, and I did not treat my body like the temple it is. So now I’m beginning to focus on returning to a state of balance and health. A major issue I have struggled with is coping with stress. Living in a constant stress state is terrible for our bodies. We were not designed to do so. I have started to make changes and incorporate coping mechanisms like meditation using the awesome app: Stop, Breathe, Think (free app). Trying to create a self-loving mindset and be free of negative thoughts. I am focusing on fuel, what I eat (do we really know what we eat? Where the garbage we call ‘food’ is coming from?). And lastly how I move (exercise)! Why am I making these changes and why am I not better at this already? Great question, I know better so now it is time to practice what I preach. Take control of my health and return to a state of balance and wellness. And another important reason is that my husband and I would like to start trying to conceive!
I have been married for 2.5 years to my lovely husband Mark. Mark loves hockey and has a giant place in his heart for coaching. He also enjoys playing in an adult league once a week. He is in marketing (lucky for me, his skills are very helpful) and has a sweet gig working from home with our 2 rescued calico kitties Willow and Penelope and the newest member of our family a 4-month-old German Shepherd puppy, Sullivan.
Getting to the point, I will be using this blog as a tool for you to get to know me and to take you on my conception journey. The supplements, what do I eat, what not to do etc. With my own education as well as Dr. Alexia’s guidance and other marvelous crunchy tools I intend to have a very healthy and happy pregnancy! Plug- If you have any questions regarding infertility and would like to schedule a consultation please call Peake Wellness Center. Or if you just want to give yourself the best opportunity for a healthy and happy pregnancy make an appointment! And if you are the woman that is already in the second or third trimester it is never too late to begin chiropractic care, your body and your baby will thank you!
I have always been increasingly interested in the whole physiological concept of pregnancy and have wanted to be a mom! Chiropractic is such an awesome profession to be a part of because I get to practice within my holistic salutogenic realm (focusing on how to stay well rather than pathology) but also specialize in prenatal and pediatric care. I want to empower my patients to take charge of their health and be their best advocate, especially during pregnancy. I want to help normalize and remove the fear from childbirth and empower women to know their bodies were made for it!
I am also currently expanding my education by pursuing the Certification by the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics (CACCP). I am also Webster Technique certified (I will explain what all this means in future posts). The short version though is that I have a solid foundation to care for women through pregnancy using chiropractic adjustments. It’s safe, non-invasive, and drug-free! All important things, but especially important when you have a baby on board.
Well that’s me… I can’t wait to ‘hit the table running,’ and look forward to meeting all our amazing wellness members!
Dr. Kelsey Sweet, D.C.
